Programs

  • Kinder Beat: 2 – 4 year old beginners

This early childhood program is contemporary and vibrant. It lays the foundation for a positive relationship with music that students will enjoy throughout their lives. The Kinder Beat program utilises groundbreaking early childhood education principles and introduces young children to music in a way that stimulates all their senses. It features many activities that children of the 21st century need for brain development and acceleration. Suitable for students aged from 2 to 4 years, the level of creativity and essential musical foundations can be seen on every page and heard on every sound track.
  • Junior Series: 4 – 7 year old beginners

Young children love the fun approach of the Encore on Keys Junior Series. They meet their instrument right from the start, sing along with the music, participate in story-telling and games, play percussion instruments and engage with the music through gestures, actions and movement activities. The Junior Series also features the lovable Onkie characters which are available to teachers and students as character stickers. The key elements of the Junior Series program are: Songs – for musical enjoyment, expression and foundation movement activities; Finger Zips - small pieces that develop keyboard skills on a micro level; Repertoire Pieces - solo performance pieces; Ensembles – to develop part-playing skills, group interaction and team playing; Flash Cards – a proven way to reinforce concepts and develop reading skills; and CDs and MIDI Files – these provide an aural model and excite the student’s imagination.
  • Primary Series: 8 – 12 year old beginners

This one year piano/keyboard course is comprehensive and lots of fun. It incorporates a broad range of styles such as rock, jazz, baroque, classical and many more. Unique elements featured in the Primary Series are Rhythm Taps to assist in the development of two-handed rhythm reading and playing, plus Finger Taps to establish finger numbers and patterning. The Primary Series also features its own dynamic characters which are available to teachers and students as character stickers. Each piece features a particular teaching point such as introducing a new note, a new skill or perhaps reinforcing previous elements within a new context. To assist both the teacher and the student, the main teaching point relevant to each piece appears underneath its title. Additional teaching points become self-evident as the pieces become more familiar.
  • Accent On Keys: 13+ year old beginners

This two-book series has been specifically developed for the older beginner student. One of the aims of the Accent Series is to rapidly develop foundation keyboard and theory skills so that students can graduate to the Achiever Series in a timely way. It is ideal for either individual or group tuition and has been particularly successful in school keyboard programs. The inclusion of comprehensive worksheets ensures that every aspect of music learning is covered. As with the other Encore courses, the inclusion of a broad range of musical styles guarantees a rich and diverse learning experience.
  • Achiever Series

All the Encore on Keys beginner courses (Junior, Primary and Accent Series) progress onto the Achiever Series. This series has been specifically developed to nurture fundamental musicianship skills. These skills include improvisation, sight-reading, harmonisation, reading chord charts, ensemble playing and transposition. Piano technique and performance elements are closely aligned with recognised examination syllabi. By the end of Achiever Level 4, students will have achieved a standard equivalent to at least Grade 3.Each level of the Achiever Series is divided into two teaching units, each of which represents approximately 10 weeks of learning. This provides a tangible goal for the student and a framework for the teacher.
  • Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB)

For those wishing to take the AMEB examinations, we also teach the AMEB series of lessons using the AMEB prepared material.
